Wedding work weekend

This weekend my mom came up to the cities and we did wedding stuff!  I'm great grateful that she was able and willing to make the trip. We were VERY productive and by 8:30 Sunday evening I was ready to melt into my sheets.

This is where it all began. With totes and tables full of "things"...and lots of chocolate and salsa.

Friday night we scanning baby pics and tied ribbons on bubbles for hours. Of course we finished our night the right way: sitting with our feet up by the fire and talking until the wee hours of the morning.

Our shopping list included things like: ribbon, corner punches, Mother-of-the-bride gowns, candles, candle sticks, centerpiece pails, trial flowers, dresses for showers, vases, and a veil!

And let the DIY projects begin!  First off, beautifying a cake cutter and knife.  I will NEVER tire of the color Lapis.

Next, centerpieces. After spray painting some branches, we glued crystals to some of the branches and tied purple bows on. Within 48 hours both my mother and I became queen bow-tiers. We hire out, in case you are wondering.

We finished out the night transferring all of my materials from this cardboard folder to a binder. Complete with three punched documents and color coded labels.

Tired yet?  No way!  We've still got corsages to create and invites to punch and stuff!

I know I left out some projects but I can't spoil out of our secrets. All in all, most productive weekend that I have had in a while...maybe ever! I think we laughed so hard that we cried about 5 times. Thanks Mom!

Closet Organizing

Whats the thing I'm looking forward to the most about getting married?  Organizing my closet!

Okay, maybe I'm also excited to marry my best friend and celebrate with hundreds of people that mean SO much to me, then going to lay on the beach for a week.

...but right after that, organizing my closet!

This week Bryan and I made a trip to Ikea, it was Bryan's first. You'll  never guess what department we spent the most time in. The closet organizing section!  We were surrounded by beautiful kitchen tables, potential couches and wedding centerpiece necessities but all I could think about is how I will line my purses up in my closet.  "See Bryan, I'll roll my belts up like this and have them pull out in the drawer under the glass. You can use these 4 hangers for your pants, then the other 12 will be dedicated to my skirts and work clothes. Do you see how this shoe rack keeps the shoes in good shape and makes it so easy to access them all?  But what about the boots?  Oh look, if I move this shelf down some I could put them right hear next to the purses!"

Yup, my poor fiance. He may never got back to Ikea with me again!

Really though, check these out!

I have a feeling that most of these closets are the size that our entire apartment will be, but one can hope, right? And apparently Bryan and I both need to buy more white clothing because it looks better in a white closet :)

10 ways to know you are a Minnesota Runner:

1. You don't realize that your i-pod is on repeat until you reach the end of the 3rd song.  Every thought is zoomed in on how cold your face is and how you can't feel your ears.

2. You know how to layer. And I mean KNOW how to LAYER. There is no such thing as too many layers!

3. You don't struggle with a runny nose or needing to spit.  Every fluid in the upper half of your body is frozen until you reach the lungs.

4. A snow bank and tennis shoes doesn't phase you.

5. Your $7 Target watch can't take the heat.  Bahahaha - did you catch that?  But really, by the time we made it home she was blank. RIP my favorite pink sports watch.

6. Strangers stop to ask if you need a ride. I was clearly out on a work-out run, come on people!

7. It is absolutely impossible to find a friend to work-out with.

8. You see no need to shave between the months of October and March. Though it is possible that you have a fiance that sees otherwise.

9. Your "warm -up" shower post-run is only turned 40% towards the hot side. Gotta let those legs defrost!

10. When you're done, you feel like you have accomplished the impossible.  ....Until you cough up a lung, than can't fall asleep when its bed time.

New Years Resolutions

Well, its that time again. I've felt a bit unmotivated the past week so I'm 7 days behind on resolutions, but better late than never!  Each year I make resolutions and hide them in my journal where noone can see, have they ever been completed?  Who knows?!   I'm feeling bold today so here goes nothing...

1. Become a better writer
   -Read a book about writing
-Step out of my "comfort zone" of writing
   -Spend more time writing, BLOG

2. Acquire a paying customer
  - Get this business going! (I've made some progress, promise!)
  - Develop material and get organized
 - Start promoting myself?

3. Become a wife
  - Pull off a wedding
  - Plan my life around another person
  - Become a whole lot less selfish

4. Look nicer
  - Look my age (the other day some lady called me 13!!) and like a married woman
  - Put outfits together (not an excuse to go shopping, promise :) )
  - Style my hair and put on my face (wear make-up & do hair regularly)

5. Get involved with a church and ministry
  - Get into a small group with Bryan
  - Find a way to serve and be a part of a church community

This is probably the first year that I haven't had an activity-related resolution (do a triathlon, finish a marathon etc.).  Hold your horses, I will still be out there!  The honest truth, events are pricey. We are looking at houses, a wedding, and probably a new car or two. My races will have no entry fee and will take place on my own time on my own course :)

Got any resolutions?  I'd love to hear them!
